* * * * !! Garage Groundbreaking Gathering !! * * * Our property in its current incarnation has never had a garage. So, we're embarking in a motorcyclists' dream and an accountant's nightmare: building our own garage from the ground up. We've made a lot of progress over the the last 10 months: plans, permits, hiring a contractor -- but now, the first tangible step: our yard is all torn up! Ground has broken, finally, and we're psyched. So, come join us! Fun for all! * Give us your wish list for garage features! * Debate the merits of wood vs. artifical siding! * Recount your horror stories of city bureaucracy! * Confess your un-permitted projects! * Opine futiley about features we're too cheap to put in! * Console our neighbors! * Stick pins in voodoo dolls of contractors! (but not ours!) * Terrify us with potential pitfalls and delays! * Razz us for how we've neglected the inside of the house! This gathering is really the precursor to the garage-warming BASH we'll have when the project is done. Those of you who see it before then will really appreciate the magnitude of that event. Right now, it's hard for us to imagine it will ever really happen. This will be a Jim Franklin-style "party": minimal planning, maximal hanging out. We'll have drinks, beer and munchies and either a grill or some last-minute purchased pre-grilled stuff to make up for not getting around to getting the grill together. WHEN: 2pm-on, Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000 WHERE: Sunnyvale http://www.nebcom.com/dnn/house/directions.html ABOUT THE PROJECT: http://www.nebcom.com/dnn/garage RSVPs useful for food count, but not necessary. Stop by and check out the big hole in our yard! Hope to see you then! - DaVE & Noemi p.s. we have no idea what the site will look like by Sunday, as progress "should" continue during the week. See our http://www.nebcom.com/dnn/garage for progress updates.
